Alternative Entry

Most Australian universities offer alternative entry for low income earners and mature age applicants. Some universities also offer Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific alternative entry programs. You may have to successfully pass the UMAT or GAMSAT before you can be considered for alternative entry, but each university is different. It is worth looking into.

To find out more about what alternative entry options are available at each university please contact the medical schools either in your area or where you are interested in studying.

Indigenous Places

Most Australian medical schools offer identified places for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The number of places available can range from one to eight, but Universities may take more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students on if more than the quota applies or are accepted into the medical school.
