2006 AGM

A warm balmy evening with a backdrop of amazing crimson rock formations, eucalypts and river sand created an atmosphere of deep connection to country. After a generous welcome by Ms Barbara Satour from Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation, the AGM gave the AIDA Board and management an opportunity to share with their membership achievements, initiatives and future plans. AIDA's new Strategic Plan covering the period 2006 to 2009, commitment to over 30 key national committees, involvement in inspiring promotional events such as the Board's trip to Broome where local schools and universities were visited and the Constitutional Review were amongst the major items discussed.

One Board election was required, that being the Student Representative position to the Board of Directors. Mr Aaron Davis, 2006 Student Representative to the AIDA Board gave a very positive presentation on his year as an AIDA Board member. After the formal election, Ms Lose Pauvalu from the University of New South Wales was announced as the 2006/07 Student Representative to the Board.

The AIDA membership enjoyed a beautiful BBQ dinner at Telegraph Station whilst the Undoolye Dance Group danced around the crackling campfire. Mr Tommy Crowe, local Alice Springs musician passionately played his didgeridoo and the AIDA membership danced in the river bed under the guidance of Mr Nathan Schrieber.
